Class Action Lawsuit Against Revenge Porn Site & GoDaddy

A group of Texas women have joined together to file a class action lawsuit against a revenge porn site.

Hollie Toups, 32, from Beaumont, Texas is one of the women involved in the lawsuit against porn site Texxxan.com. GoDaddy is also named in the lawsuit.

Revenge porn site allow users to upload pictures of exes, neighbors and strangers to the site without consent or their knowledge. The images are usually accompanied by personal information and social media links to the person’s life.

Toups discovered the photos in Texxxan.com which were apparently uploaded by an ex-boyfriend. She told BetaBeat that the images included personal information about her. Her real name as well as her Facebook profile were posted alongside the images.

She then asked the website to take her pictures down. But she was told that she had to give them her credit card information in order to do so. Apparently this has been a scheme used by other revenge porn sites.

Toups and 16 other women plan to sue the site and to have it shut down. According to their attorney, John Morgan, they also plan to sue the individual owners of Texxxan.com.

“None of these women consented to having their photos used,” Morgan said.

“I’m going after the revenge porn industry,” Morgan adds.

“Those sickos who put private information of women without their knowledge.”

In response to the suit, Texxxan.com “re-launched” a new disclaimer that says “anything you send or post is going to remain private. There’s no changing ur mind in cyberspace- anything u send or post will nvr truly go away.”

GoDaddy has remained mum on the pending lawsuit.

What do you think? Are photos uploaded on the internet public territory?
