A couple was murdered after unfriending a woman on Facebook. The accused is the woman’s father.
After 36-year-old Billy Payne Jr. and 23-year-old Billie Jean Hayworth unfriended 30-year-old Jennelle Potter on Facebook, they faced harrassing phone calls and online comments from the woman. Potter, who is also Payne’s cousin, was upset that they unfriended her on Facebook.
Weeks later, Potter’s father, Marvin “Buddy” Potter [pictured right] along with a cousin, 38-year-old Jamie Lynn Curd [pictured left], went out and murdered the couple. Curd was known to have romantic feelings for Potter. On January 31, 2012, a former neighbour discovered the couple’s bodies. Payne was found dead in his bedroom and Hayworth was found dead in the baby’s room. Both victims were shot in the head. They are survived by their eighth-month-old son who was left unharmed.
Curd and Potter were arrested for the murders. They are scheduled to appear in court on March 7.
