Israel bans underweight models in catwalks and ads.

Lawmakers in Israel bans underweight models in catwalks and commercial ads. They are also forcing advertisers to advise the public when they adjust photos to make models appear thin.

The proposed law to regulate the modelling and fashion industry was came as a response to a model who died. She suffered from an eating disorder and was 66 lbs. Supporters say that regulating the industry will help reduce eating disorders.

People opposed to regulating the industry say that it hinders on free enterprise. Changes can be implemented without regulating the whole industry. The U.S. and the association of fashion designers have already adopted new guidelines to fight the spread of eating disorders. This includes banning 16 years old from catwalks.
