Twinkies are gone after the Hostess company files for bankruptcy.
The company closed its doors after years of declining sales. The last straw was a worker’s strike where they are protesting cuts on wages and benefits.
There are about 18,000 people who lost their jobs after the company decided to close up shop.
Some say that another company may take over to continue to the brand. According to Hostess, there had been inquiries about buying parts of the company.
“We think there’s a lot of value in the brands, and we’ll certainly be trying to maximize value, both of the brands and the physical assets,” the company spokesman told Huffington Post.
News of the Twinkies being gone forever caused a stir in some people. The cake products flew off the shelves within hours then some reappeared on eBay. Some of the auctions were being sold for up to $60 a pack.
Do you think this will be the end of the Twinkie?
