Super Bowl XLVI: Manningham’s a great catch

Mario Manningham made an amazing catch from a 38-yard pass from Eli Manning last night bringing the Giants to midfield with 3:39 left in the fourth quarter effectively bringing them victory over the Patriots.

Manningham made the catch seem flawless. This play had an uncanny resemblance to David Tyree’s catch four years ago dubbed “Catch 42.” ESPN calls Manningham’s “Super Mario.”

“I didn’t have much room,” Manningham said in an interview, referring to the space between his toes and sideline. “Good thing I wear an 11 [shoe] and not 11½ or else I would’ve been out.”

Manningham’s catch was the biggest and the longest play in Giant’s Super Bowl XLVI 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots at Lucas Oil Stadium.
