Karlie Kloss walked down the runway last week in leopard print underwear and a tribal Native American headdress. The outfit sparked outcry in the Native American community, deeming the outfit as a mockery of their culture.
Navajo Nation spokesman Erny Zah said,”Any mockery, whether it’s Halloween, Victoria’s Secret – they are spitting on us. They are spitting on our culture, and it’s upsetting”.
In the Native American culture only war chiefs and warriors can wear headdresses. Each feather that is placed is earned through an act of bravery or compassion.
Victory Secret has since apologized and has stated that the outfit will not be featured in any future media releases.
Karlie Kloss took to twitter to apologize as well.
