5-hour Energy Drinks Reportedly Caused 13 Deaths

The 5-hour ENERGY drink sold everywhere may have caused 13 deaths.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed the reports on Wednesday. There are 13 cases of deaths over the past four years that may be linked to the energy drink.

The FDA disclosed last month that it was investigating reports on five deaths that may be linked to the beverage.

The beverage containing high caffeine content have increased its sales $9 billing last year, according to a report by Beverage Digest.

Since 2009, there are 90 FDA filings that mentions the 5-hour Energy drink that involved heart attacks, convulsions, and a spontaneous abortion.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reported that there were more than 13,000 emergency room visits in 2009 that were connected with drinking the energy drinks.

Living Essentials, the company who sells the energy drink said in a statement that the product “is not an energy drink.”

The statement continued that the company “takes reports of any potential adverse event tied to our products very seriously. We fully comply with all of our reporting requirements.”

What do you think of this? Do you think the deaths were caused by the energy drink?
