Arnold Schwarzenegger admits to having affairs for years.
In an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes, he says he hid many secrets from his wife including his affair with Red Sonja co-star, Brigitte Nielsen, undergoing heart surgery and running for governor.
He didn’t tell Maria Shriver his plan to run for governor until a few days before his campaign announcement which left Shriver in tears.
Shriver publicly defended Schwarzenegger against allegations of sexually inappropriate conduct during his gubernatorial campaign.
Years later, news of Schwarzenegger’s affair with the family’s housekeeper, Mildred Patricia Baena, surfaced. It was revealed that he fathered a child with her.
He said he wasn’t sure if he was actually the father of the child, but the boy started to look like him as he grew up. He then started sending Baena money to support the child.
Schwarzenegger continued to deny his affair from Shriver. During a marriage counselling session before their public break-up, he admitted to the affair.
“I inflicted tremendous pain on Maria,” Schwarzeneggar says.
Shriver filed for divorce in July 2011.
