A woman’s breast implants fell out of her chest leaving her with uneven breasts.
Lauren Yardley, 25, had her breasts increased from a size A to a size DD because she felt she looked like a boy.
Two months after her operation, she noticed that her breasts were uneven. She described that her left boob felt hard and uncomfortable at the time.
When she got it checked, the doctors found that her body had rejected the implant. They told her that they have to reinsert the implant by going through another surgery.
Two months after the second surgery, the tissue surrounding the implant tightened and eventually pushed the implant out of Lauren’s body. The implant was ejected through the stitches underneath her breast.
The doctors could not reinsert the implant until her body had had time to heal. For six months, Lauren had one small and one big breast.
Although Lauren was embarrassed and had to live with an uneven chest for six months, she was thankful that she did not go into shock.
“I couldn’t believe it when the implant started coming out of my breast.”
“The doctors at the hospital said they had never seen anything like it — they couldn’t believe I was not in septic shock.”
“I feel very lucky — it could have been a lot worse. The most horrific thing was having only one breast for seven months. It was horrible.”
“I felt really confident after having my implants, but I lost it all again when I was left with an uneven chest.”
According to doctors, Lauren suffered from capsular contracture. It is a complication that could happen to anyone after a breast implant surgery. The complication affects most patients to some degree and would normally need more surgery.
When an breast implant is inserted in the chest, the body naturally creates a capsule of fibrous scar tissue around it as part of the healing process.
The scar tissue will shrink over time, but the shrink rate and extent varies from person to person.
There had been cases where the capsule tightens and squeezes the implant out. This was what happened in Lauaren’s case. The capsule tightened making her breasts feel hard and eventually pushed it out of her body.
Lauren told The Sun that women to be aware of the possible side effects of breast augmentation. It was a horrific ordeal that she is glad to be other with.
