Joshua Smith, from Detroit, shot his mother ten times as she slept. He was a 14-year old student from Kettering High
Tamika Robinson, 36, was asleep on the couch when the boy allegedly shot her. According to police spokesman, Smith was angry with his mother because she tried to keep him away from a gang.
Leshawn Roberts, Robinson’s brother, told reporters that the boy wanted to be a part of a gang. He said, “he wanted to hang with the big boys and my sister said no.”
Robinson’s fiance and 5-year-old daughter were in the house when the shooting happened. They jumped through a window to
escape the shooting. Her daughter witnessed the shooting and is now asking why this could have happened.
Smith was arrested driving in his parent’s car after.
