It seems people’s dreams of flying cars some day may be closer than they realize.
Treffugia, an aircraft company, built a flying car which they appropriately dubbed the Transition.
The plane – no the car has two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up to allow it be driven like a car. It was successfully tested to fly at 1,400 feet for eight minutes last month.
According to Treffugia, the Transition will be introduced at the New York Auto Show later this week.
Around 100 people have already put down a deposit of $10,000 once it goes on sale. However, the car is expected to cost a whopping $279,000.
The flying car can reach approximately 70 miles per hour on the road. It reaches 115 when in the air. It uses a 23-gallon tank of gas which it burns about 5 gallons per hour in the air. It does get 35 miles per gallon while on the ground.
Although the Transition comes close to many people’s dream of flying a car, reality is it still looks like a plane.
As the saying goes, if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck then it must be a duck.
