Six weeks ago Zimmerman was allowed to remain free on bail and was prepared to live in hiding as he waits for his trial for the death of Trayvon Martin.
He and his wife told the judge that they did not have money in court.
The couple collected the amount after they pleaded to supporters to help them with legal fees.
The website therealgeorgezimmerman.com was setup on April 9 and has received more than $200,000 in donations from anonymous sources. The donations were made through Paypal.
According to reports, the couple currently has $135,000 in liquid cash at their disposal.
Prosecutor Bernie De La Rionda said the couple knew they deceived the courts by hiding the funds. Recorded conversations between Zimmerman and his wife talked about the money in coded messages. During the conversations, Zimmerman would talk about the amount of $8.50 when that really meant $85,000.
Judge Kenneth Lester ordered Zimmerman back in jail within 48 hours after learning about the hidden money.
Zimmerman’s defense attorney said that his credibility will be a problem after the recent events.
