A Nursing student in Brazil is charged with involuntary manslaughter. She allegedly injected an 80-year-old patient with coffee instead of a blood drip.
Rejane Moreira Telles, 23, had only worked at the hospital in Rio de Janeiro for three days according to reports.
Telles said, “Anyone can get confused.”
She said the blood drip and feed drip which contained coffee and milk were placed right next to each other. She claims she did not receive training for the procedure.
The patient, Palmerina Pires Ribeiro, died a few hours after the coffee injection.
Dr. Armando Carreir described Riberiro’s death “as if she would have suffocated.”
Two other nurses and another student have also been indicated for manslaughter.
