Obama’s capaign recently released a video that featured the president reminding actor and former White House staffer Kal Penn to “take his job seriously.”
Penn will be hosting coverage of the Democratic National convention this week.
In the promotional video, Obama called up Penn telling him that he was counting on him Thursday night.
After the president hung up, Penn appears sitting on a couch and seemed more fixated on watching cartoons with John Cho, his co-star in his “Harold & Kumar” movies.
“Dude, who was that? That sounded intense,” Cho asked while stuffing cheesepuffs in his mouth.
“The president,” Penn says while still watching tv.
Penn was part of the Obama administration in 2009 as associate director in the White House Office of Public Engagement. He left his post briefly in 2010 to film “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.”
Penn will host “Live From Charlotte,” a web-only convention special on Thursday at 8 p.m.
