Chow Hok Kuen, a British citizen, was arrested in Thailand. Police discovered six fetal corpses in his luggage. The age of the fetuses at the time of death were beween two and sevent months old. They were roasted and covered in gold leaf.
Thai police received a tip about a black magic services website offering fetuses for sale. The tip led to the arrest of the 28-year-old Chow.
A ritual called Kuman thong that means “golden child” in Thai involves roasting fetuses and covering them in gold. The fetuses are believed to bring good fortune to people who own one.
Police say that Chow may be planning to smuggle the fetuses to Taiwan. According to reports, one fetus could sell for $200,000 Thai baht, or $6,376.
Chow faces charges of hiding and covering dead bodies and can face up to one year in prison.
