A real-life King Midas now owns a shirt made of pure gold.
Datta Phuge, a wealthy 32-year-old man from India, had a shirt made out of gold in the hopes of impressing the ladies.
Phuge says it took a team of 15 goldsmiths two weeks to complete the golden shirt. The goldsmiths worked 16 hours a day making and weaving the gold threads.
When asked why he made a gold shirt? The money-lender responded, “I know I am not the best looking man in the world but surely no woman could fail to be dazzled by this shirt?”
Phuge told newspapers that he always dreamed of a gold shirt. He also thinks that the shirt will help add to his reputation as the ‘Gold man of Pimpri’.”
The shirt comes with matching cuffs, set of rings, Swarovski crystal buttons and a gold belt. The gold shirt reportedly cost over $22,000 to make.
