Jesus Un-Crossed: SNL Skit Gone Too Far? (VIDEO)
Christoph Waltz played Jesus in ‘Djesus Uncrossed’ on Saturday Night Live.
Waltz appeared on SNL as a guest host and took part in a spoof about the resurrection of Jesus.
With Lent beginning on Wednesday, this skit will surely cause a backlash from religious viewers.
The segment was filmed in Quentin Tarantino style movie trailer where Waltz portrays Jesus exacting revenge on the people who have wronged him.
The spoof began:
‘He’s risen from the dead, and he’s preaching anything but forgiveness.’
He then slays men with a sword similar to the samurai from the Kill Bill movies. He confronts Judas played by Jay Pharaoh mocking Samuel L. Jackson.
The narrator says: ‘Critics are calling it a less violent Passion of the Christ,’
Taran Killam plays St. Peter with references to Brad Pitt’s character in Inglorious Basterds. Christ’s Apostles were the Basterds and were asked to get ‘one hundred Row-man scalps’.
The spoof also added references to Django Unchained’s setting around American slavery.
‘I never knew how much Jesus used the N-word.”
At the end of the trailer, Waltz announces: ‘No more MR. Nice Jesus.’
So, do you think the SNL skit was inappropriate?
Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus (VIDEO)
This guy made a video about how he hates religion but loves Jesus. e states that religion is deadly to the world and says Jesus came to get rid of it. But can you really separate religion from Jesus? If you believe in Jesus, you by default follow what He says, so wouldn’t that be religion? It’s just kinda hard to see exactly what this guy is saying. I know a lot of people are agreeing with what he said in this video. But what is He really saying when he doesn’t acknowledge following Jesus as religion?
