Who Was Reeva Steenkamp?

When reports of Paralympian athlete, Oscar Pistorius, killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, surfaced this morning, many wondered who she was.

Steenkamp was Oscar Pistorius’ girlfriend, reality star, international model, and law school grad.

Pistorious, 26, was charged in her murder this morning.

The 30-year-old South African beauty died of gunshot wounds to the head and arm. Reports say that Pistorious may have killed her, but unconfirmed reports say that he may have accidentally shot her when he had mistaken her for an intruder.

The couple were famous in their native South Africa and had dubbed the “Posh and Becks of South Africa.”

But Steenkamp was more than a pretty face. She received a law degree from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. She was also set to appear on the fifth season premier of Tropika Island of Treasure, a popular reality show in South Africa.

Among other things, Steenkamp was the face of Avon in South Africa and became famous from her cover shoot on FHM Magazine’s December 2011 issue.

The model told “The Herald” that she planned on getting back into law. She told “The Weekend Post” that she made an application to the Bar last year, but got a call from the FHM photo shoot. She decided to take the FHM opportunity instead. She called it “destiny and faith.”

Steenkamp spoke candidly about her relationship with Pistorius. She had called him “beautiful” on Twitter and told reporters at the Virgin Active Sports Industry Awards that Pistorius has “impeccable” taste in gifts.

“His gifts are always thoughtful,” she said.

Steenkamp loved using Instagram where she posted about love, life and the things that were important to her.

One recent photo was captioned: “woke up in a happy safe home this morning. Not everyone did. Speak out against the rapeā€¦” Two of her previous posts was a wedding dress and a quote about love.
