Sharmeka Moffitt told police that she was in a Winnsboro park when three men who wore white hoods attacked her. She said they doused her with flammable liquid and set her on fire.
According to reports, ‘KKK’ was written on her car when she was set on fire. She was able to extinguish the fire with a water spigot.
When police arrived, they found the letters ‘KKK’ on the hood of her car and Sharmeka in bad condition.
Sharmeka is in critical condition as LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. She suffered third degree burns on her arms, chest, and legs.
At the time of the incident, police have not found a motive for the attack.
At around 6:39 pm Tuesday, The News Star reported that they believe Moffitt fabricated the story of the attack. Officials believe Sharmeka was responsible for writing ‘KKK’ and ‘n–er’ on her car and lit herself on fire.
According to Franklin Sun, the cigarette lighter and lighter fluid used had Moffitt’s fingerprints on it. The words ‘KKK’ were written with toothpaste which was linked to female DNA.
Here’s the video regarding new evidence that show that Sharmeka may have done this to herself:
