A woman collected 500,000 pennies to pay for her god daughter’s college tuition.
Back in 1997, Faith Hammock began collecting pennies to save up for her god daughter’s college. She picked up pennies from gutters, seat cushions, and the street.
Hyla Gilbert, Hammock’s god daughter, will be going to Indiana State Unviersity in the fall. She hopes to become a nurse some day.
After 15 years of penny collecting, Hammock presented Gilbert with the money she saved. The collection of pennies is worth $5000.
